About Brian
Brian is not an Adams County politician but rather a hard working individual with a broad range of experiences, a small business owner, an Ironman triathlete, a rock climber, a skydiver, sports coach, and husband. Brian cares about his community and this is evidenced through his support of the following:
- Development of Denver Climbing League, a nationally acclaimed kids rock climbing program
- “Tri for the Cure” for breast cancer
- The Kempe Foundation which works to prevent child abuse
- CWW which is a women’s triathlon group.
While growing up in Nebraska, Brian quickly learned the value and importance of hard work. Working with his father, Brian learned 
the building trade starting at the age of 11. He worked, and eventually managed, dry wall crews and lawn care maintenance during high school. Brian’s hard work ethic continued during his college career where he worked 20 – 40 hours per week while earning his degree in Construction Management.
After college, Brian worked as a Project Manager on several multimillion dollar construction projects. But after successfully working these types of projects, Brian found that his strong work ethic, passion and innovation was leading him into self employment.
Brian’s passion was rock climbing and in 1990 he took a risk and started Paradise Rock Gym in Adams County. Paradise was a new type of gym in Colorado that focused sol
ely on rock climbing. Brian took a chance opening Paradise but with hard work and passion he was successful. Paradise set the standard for indoor climbing gyms all across the Country and in doing so Brian employed many young people, hosted world class rock climbing competitions, and developed a nationally recognized youth sports program benefiting our kids. This program changed these kids’ lives in many ways including increased confidence.
Brian successfully sold Paradise in 2000 to focus on starting a floor installation business and a swimming coach business. In opening and running these businesses, Brian relied on the skills and work ethic his father instilled in him from the age of 11.
Brian understands hard work and achievement because he has lived these principals. He is a triathlete who believes in a healthy and active lifestyle, lives this lifestyle, and believes there is no better place than Colorado to live.
Brian has been both an employee and an employer; he started businesses that succeeded and businesses that were not successful. Through these good and bad experiences, Brian learned a lot about business, people, and how to succeed.
These experiences give Brian a complete understanding that our Colorado House must work to create job friendly policies that will put people back to work. Many people agree with Brian that hard work, honest work, and self achievement is important. If Brian is elected, these people will have an ally in the Colorado State House who will stand with them.
